Uncovered: Shields

Newcastle band Shields came to our attention a few days and we’ve listened to them a lot since then. We’ve read people comparing the band to The Police, Everything Everything and The Futureheads. Now, yes, all these bands are from the North East and they may or not be an influence but Shields are definitely carving out their own path. After all, most bands for a start don’t have members who met whilst studying Popular & Contemporary Music.

Uncovered: Oliver Tank


We head down under for our latest Uncovered entry to introduce to you Sydney-based producer Oliver Tank.

Oliver creates blissfully sparse electronica and if you’re fan of James Blake, Postal Service or Boards of Canada. There is a good chance you’ll like his music.

The FREE download below is Last Night I Heard Everything in Slow Motion and is the first single from his debut EP to be released on 25th October by Australian label Yes Please.

It’s beautifully crafted song featuring string samples and a delicate vocal.

The man behind Tropics is Chris Ward. He’s a 22 year old Brit taking influences from 70′s jams, post-punk and whatever else he taped in his youth, bringing us the radiant sounds of dreamy, summer nostalgia.
